Do lucky bamboo (Dracaena Sanderia) stalks grow in height?
I received some lucky bamboo from Eastern Leaf, and I was looking at the care instructions online. They say that the stalks won't grow, only the leaves. How is that possible? I've found some other information online, but all of it is contradicting what I have previously read. I noticed that Eastern Leaf calls their bamboo " Dracaena Sanderia," while the information about lucky bamboo that I have found online refers to theirs as " Dracaena Sanderiana." Is this a typo or is there an actual difference between the two?If anyone has any information or experience caring for these plants, I would appreciate it.
Food coloring and lucky bamboo?
I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be alright for me to mix peat moss, soil, and food colored sand it was colored about 3 or more months ago and i wasn't sure if that would hurt my lucky bamboo or be completely harmless.
I pruned my lucky bamboo and now it is turining yellow!?
I read to pull of the top where it meets the stalk when the part with the leaves got to long and now the stalk is dying. I think it is called the " stalk" not sure..the bottom I guess. Now I dont know if that top part will grow on the stalk again or is it dead now? Any clues...pictures? The top in the seperate jar is growing roots and is doing great but the bottom of the bamboo is dying it looks like. It is in plenty of water and the same vase it has been in for 5 years. What is wrong with it?? How do you properly prune...or regrow more bamboo from one??
Growing lucky bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana) in large quantities?
My wedding is June 27, 2009 and I would like to grow 300 stalks of lucky bamboo to use as the centrepieces favours. First of all, is it possible to grow decent sized stalks 4 6 inches in this time frame? Secondly, how would you go about growing them? From shoots or seeds? I am thinking of using large Rubbermaid bins for growing them. Any suggestions, advice from previous experience and links would be helpful
My lucky bamboo is dying, and I dont know how to stop it!! HELP! ?
Me and my husband got this bamboo on our 5th wedding anniversary, This bamboo was between 4 5 ft from bottom to tip of leaves and is about 10 years old been married 15 yrs I have never had problems maintaining it. About a month ago, that dreaded yellow color started creeping up from the bottom. I called Pikes and the girl said just cut off the yellow and put it back in water....well, I did that, which brought it down to about 3 feet tall. That left me with not much of the stalk, but the leaves still looked good. But the yellow kept creeping and then just abruptly stopped. So, I am left with about 3 inches of bamboo stalk and approx. 2 feet of leaves. What do I do? Its not the luck I'm worried about, but its been my pride and joy for years, The stalk was bent and twisted, it was an awesome plant, now I'm watching it die and don't know how to stop it...Please, someone help me, no one seems to have the correct answer for me

Lucky Bamboo Question...?
I have a 1.5 2' spiraling bamboo plant and I have about the same height straight one that I put in the center of the spiraling one.....I am wanting to cut the leaves or the " sprouts" off and put them into another pot and let them grow, but I am not sure how all this works or if they will even grow and if the " parent" stalks will grow new sprouts. I know once a stalk is cut it cannot grow any taller, which means the sprouts probably wont ever be anything but leaves....so just wondering what I can do. Thanks
